First Annual UVA Native American Pow Wow

Saturday, March 28, 2015

The first annual Native American Pow Wow at the University of Virginia is a multicultural event to celebrate Native culture. This modern pow wow is a specific type of event for people to dance, sing, socialize, and honor cultural traditions. This is a perfect opportunity to learn more and showcase your knowledge of Native dancing. There will be music provided by drum groups (Namawochi and Youghtanund), dancers, culturally relevant foods, and possible native vendors. All Native dancers welcome! If you are not familiar with Native culture come out, watch the dances, ask questions, and even participate in a few dances! If you would like to sign up there is a dance registry available in the Native American Student Union website, and it will also be available the day of the event between 12PM and 1PM.
