A Brown Bag Lunch with Professor Corinne Field, Women, Gender & Sexuality & History Department

From productive households to successful individuals: a historical perspective on the separation of work and family

Friday, September 20, 12:30 - 1:30pm

Location TBD

From the earliest days of European settlement in America to the present, most women have had to contribute cash earnings to their families.  Only recently, however, have large numbers of women pursued the expectation of individual career advancement over the course of life.  In this talk, Field will complicate simplistic narratives of women progressively leaving home and entering workplaces to investigate how understandings of both home and work have changed over time.

Seminar is capped at 20 participants; Those selected will be notified by Thursday morning
