THREE WAYS TO COMPLETE WGS MAJOR AND MINOR Beginning August 25, 2015

Thursday, August 20, 2015

The Women, Gender & Sexuality Program has added two concentrations to the WGS major and minor, one in Gender Studies and another in Sexuality Studies. As of August 25, 2015, there are now three ways to major or minor in WGS:

  • with a concentration in Sexuality Studies
  • with a concentration in Gender Studies
  • with no concentration (as before)

WGS hopes that the new concentrations will help students to tailor the major or minor to individual interests, and to receive credit for having done so. Students who prefer to pursue the major or minor exactly as before will, however, continue to have that option.
Students who complete a concentration will have it listed on their academic transcript. For instance, a student’s transcript might read: “Major in Women, Gender & Sexuality; Concentration in Sexuality Studies”. In this way, both the WGS major and the WGS minor can be tailored to reflect individual interests.
Details are given on the WGS Major and WGS Minor links on the website. To learn more, or to declare a concentration, contact WGS Director of Undergraduate Programs, Dr. Cori Field, cf6d@virginia.edu.
